Submission categories

Paper submission deadline past; position statements can be submitted by 22 March 2004

There are two types of reviewed papers (submission closed on Monday 27 October):

  1. Research papers (up to 15 pages)
  2. Short papers (up to 5 pages) that are either
    1. proposals to present demonstration of implemented guideline-based systems
    2. proposals to present work-in-progress as posters or short presentations

In addition, symposium attendees (in particular, those who did not submit a paper) are encouraged to submit position statements explaining the author's interests and current work in computerized guidelines and protocols (1 page). Position statements should be sent by Monday 22 March, 2004, to the submission address

Research papers and short papers will be peer-reviewed for acceptance and presentation at the symposium. Accepted papers of both types will be published by the IOS Press as a volume in the “Studies in Health Technology and Informatics” series. They should conform to the format required by the IOS press, see below. Position statements will be collected as workshop notes (authors are encouraged to use the same format as for research and short papers). Both IOS Press volume and workshop notes will be distributed at the symposium.

The original IOS Press styles are available from If you have problems with these styles (there are known errors to be fixed soon), you can use an adapted version available here as ZIP archive. Please use them as following:

  1. Copy the files 'ios.cls' and 'ioscrcb.sty' into the directory of your latex file.
  2. Use them as described in file 'your-latex-file.tex'.

There is no need for extra graphics- and language-packages.

Authors of submitted papers (only research + short papers, not position statements) are further expected to prepare 1 page abstracts (summarizing the content of each paper); abstracts of accepted papers will additionally be published in the IJM EuroMISE 2004 proceedings distributed to all participants of IJM. Please, prepare the abstracts using the (CGP-specific!) style at, and upload them before December 17th, 2003, using the submission form available upon preliminary registration at the IJM site (
